Let’s back up to 1982. This is when I headed off to start my life as a professional dancer.
I wasn’t so keen at the time, oh don’t get me wrong, I wanted to dance……..I just didn’t want to leave my boyfriend at the time. You need to remember I had just turned 17. Yep, that’s right……young and delusional 😁
I was a right b%^#*h …….to everyone. We were in WA…..not happy Jan comes to mind !!!!!
Then we headed to Singapore and I was hooked.
Boyfriend…..what boyfriend lol !!!!!
That was the beginning of a working relationship that lasted 16 years on stage and friendships that have stood the test of time…..just over 32 years now for some.
Its hard to believe it all started so long ago, where do the years go?
I can’t explain to you how it feels to dance……but to hear music and have it move you so deep within that it allows you to then manipulate your body to that music……it’s truly liberating and magical. Do I still dance? In my heart and mind, I will always dance. Some customers and my team at work will tell you I can be seen dancing occasionally in the store. 😂
I along with the rest of our dance company family got to live my dream and I am extremely grateful for that. However, it is hard for any other occupation to live up to it. The key to that is find your passion. If you can do that it makes going to work everyday enjoyable.
Lets face it, we spend a lot of hours at work…….how sad it is to be unhappy while you’re there…….but that conversation is for another day.
I continued to perform up to and after I had my first 2 children. Both of which have talents of their own both in music and dance. If that came through me, I’m thrilled. It is a special gift to feel something so deeply.
By this time I was a single parent of 2…… Time to join the real world and get a ‘real’ job.
But what do you do when you’re not qualified to do anything ?????
